Ros Atkins on … Russia’s food war
The West accuses the Russian military of keeping food supplies for millions of people around the world.
The war blocked Ukraine’s main ports on the Black Sea, severely affecting food supply chains around the world. The country is a major exporter of wheat, but now millions of tonnes of the grain are stuck – affecting the countries most likely to buy.
Russia denies it is weaponizing the food supply, citing Ukraine’s attempts to mine the Black Sea and sanctions as the cause – as the BBC’s Ros Atkins explains.
