Rolls-Royce reveals new Spirit of Ecstasy hood decoration for the electric era

It was a big day in Rolls royce car landing, as the British ultra-luxury car company just unveiled a new Spirit of Ecstasy hood trim to grace its future cars.

In the automotive world, the Rolls-Royce hood ornament is one of the most iconic, and now it’s getting a new look for the electric era. Or as Rolls likes it, “she” is getting a new look.

The first Rolls-Royce to wear the new Spirit of Ecstasy will be Specter electric car coming soon. Its design also ties into the brand’s electrified future. Rolls-Royce says the new design is sculpted to both look and be more aerodynamic than the old model. Instead of standing upright on two legs, leaning at the waist and feet together, the new ornament is “windproof, one foot forward, body lowered.” In terms of height, the new trim is 82.73 mm tall, while the included trim is 100.01 mm tall. Plus, the cape (they’re not wings!) The flap behind her has been reshaped to be more aerodynamic and more realistic.

Why is aero such a great focal point? Well, aero is everything when it comes to tram scope and efficiency. Rolls-Royce said current Specter prototype has a drag coefficient of just 0.26, making the Specter the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever. That number is expected to get even better as the production design is finalized, Rolls said.

Design director Anders Warming said: “111 years ago, the Spirit of Ecstasy became an official part of Rolls-Royce. “However, she has come to represent a spiritual direction for our brand. Her figure perfectly appeals to the fashionistas – she leans forward, embodying our relentless pursuit of progress, and her dress gracefully flutters in the wind, creating an air of elegance. Escape for our products in motion. As for Specter and beyond, she becomes shorter and more focused; Prepare for the unprecedented speed and exciting future her presence will define. “

The ornament is the product of 830 hours of model design and wind tunnel testing. However, instead of drawing it on paper or sculpting in real life, this Spirit of Ecstasy was designed through digital computer “sculpting”. That said, the actual construction of the ornament will continue to be completed by hand after going through the “lost wax casting” process. This manual finishing process means that even in the computer age, Rolls promises that every ornament will be completely different from the next – it’s about glamor.

Rolls-Royce says this new Spirit of Ecstasy version will appear on all future models, but the current design will still be used for ghost, The spectre, the spectre, Dawn and Cullinan.
