Robin Sparkles looks to add Smart N Fancy Win to continue

New York’s Michael Schrader bred Robin Sparkles Will consider to add her Racecourse Saratoga successfully faced eight others in the $150,000 Smart N Fancy Stakes August 20, a 5 1/2 sprint for puppies and mares 4 years and older. onto the Mellon turf.

Robin Sparkles was last seen before a late charge from several opponents to post a 21-1 defeat in Caress Stakes (G3T) on July 23 at Spa. Showing off her usual avant-garde fashion sense, Robin Sparkles held a late-night rally from Souper Sensational to win with a head.

Driven by Bruce Brown, Elusive quality mares finished third in last year’s race and have never finished in five career races at Spa. She was the only horse in the field to finish three years in a row at Saratoga.

“Five and a half (the trousers) here are definitely her thing,” Brown said. “A few of the races last year, the grass might not have been as firm as she’d liked and she still ran her race.”

Robin Sparkles uses speed to his advantage in Caress, going for an unbridled lead. Brown said similar tactics will apply on Saturday.

“She’s going to do what she does,” Brown said. “You’re not going to drop anyone up here. This is where everyone is headed.”

Raised in the Empire State by Hibiscus Stables, Robin Sparkles beat state hybrids in the holding company by a mile in the Mount Vernon suburban Stakes last year at Belmont Park.
