Robert Easter Jr finds himself the target of aggressive robbers in Cincinnati Ohio. The former 135-pound IBF titleholder was approached by several men with guns, who asked him to remove his jewelry.

According to WTOL 11, Easter told investigators he was approached from behind and heard one suspect say “give me those,” referring to the jewelry Easter Jr was wearing. at that moment.

Upon hearing the request, Easter Jr. immediately ran away. While trying to run away, he was shot several times before falling to the ground. It is reported that several diamond rings, several gold chains and his cell phone were taken during the robbery.

Easter Jr is currently undergoing surgery at a local hospital in Cincinnati and is expected to make a full recovery.

The 31-year-old former player has been hoping to keep building towards another world championship chance. Since losing the IBF crown to Mikey Garcia in 2018, Easter Jr has enjoyed two straight wins and a draw. On his most recent trip to the ring, he easily beat fringe rival Ryan Martin in his second professional bout at 140 pounds.

The hope for the residents of Toledo, Ohio, is working their way back up the championship ladder. However, despite his world champion aspirations, his prisoner friend’s dreams will be put on hold until he recovers from the violent attack.
