In addition to that very versatile 8x zoom range, Tamron also includes the ability to shoot 1:2 close-ups at the 50mm focal length, making this lens even more attractive for all types of work, especially in nature. With such a wide focal length range, you shouldn’t expect the highest levels of sharpness from the lens, but if you’ve used a superzoom camera in the past, I think you’ll be quite surprised at output quality of Tamron. Overall, it looks like a pretty capable lens for a variety of situations and needs (as long as you don’t need the aperture to be too wide) at a competitive price point.
