We’ve all spent hours editing a shoot, or if you’re like me, delay editing it. Spending less time editing and more time shooting is something most of us aspire to. If only there was a way to automatically edit with low prices and high standards. If this sounds like you, this could be the solution.
Presets are the past, AI is the future
The only preset you need to have to be a great photographer is your style. Indeed, personal style is extremely important for forming a consistent portfolio and work content. All in all, the presets promise faster editing. But a preset is “silly”. It simply applies a look to your image and it will not consider the content of that image. This is great if your images don’t change, but if you’re editing a wedding or an event where the settings change constantly, a preset won’t be so helpful. Furthermore, a preset won’t fix a poorly exposed image, let alone an image that needs cropping. That has to be done manually.
I’m often frustrated with how presets work on my images, and using them makes my process slower sometimes. The other option, auto-correction, simply makes a bunch of basic adjustments, again without regard to what’s in the scene.
The time you spend editing doesn’t really bring you any cash. I’ve asserted many times that customers often don’t realize how long it takes to edit an image, because it’s not as simple as slapping a filter on an iPhone photo.
Expensive editor
The only solution, until now, has been to hire an editor. As someone who works with photo editors on a daily basis, I can attest that I tend to consider the final amount of images I provide carefully. As a fashion photographer, the maximum number is up to dozens. That’s still doable with the editor and editor. However, where it gets complicated is when you’re working with hundreds, even thousands of images.
I hardly imagine that someone would hire an editor and provide them with thousands of images to edit from a wedding or event. The cost of such efforts is simply hard to justify. Perhaps the top 1% of wedding photographers can afford to hire an editor, but the other 99% can’t.

Create my own custom style

Importantly, I made sure that there were a lot of images with high and low contrast according to the light. After doing that, I let Imagen run its algorithms and come up with a style it deems appropriate.

If you have seen my previous articles, an easy way to make money in photography is to shoot events. Take a look at a few events that I came back to during the day and threw the raw files into Imagen’s Talent profile. Each time, I will use a different profile. This is done to simulate a photographer using different looks for different settings. Outdoor events tend to use a more saturated color grade by nature, while formal receptions are typically less contrasting and more mellow in terms of color levels.
