Anatasia Lynzel’s life was engulfed in torpedoes after her mother’s death. As you can imagine, this means Even when Tempest can be a pretty graphic game! Anastasia has a tough life, which means she’s back to real life purpose. She knows what her goals are and will accomplish them. It also means that this is not a simple visual novel. Yes, you are choosing and reading a lot. But part of that means investigating along with love interests for part of the route, then entering a witch trial in the second half. It means you don’t just worry about what to say to get someone to like you. You also need to know what to do to keep Anastasia alive, find the necessary evidence, and handle the trials in a way that exposes the truth.
This means Even when Tempest unlike other otome visual novels. At times, it can feel like a visual novel with an adventure game twist. You are looking for revelations ahead of important times. When you are in court, you need to consider the correct approach during questioning. Especially since replies here have to be submitted within seconds. You never know when deciding to defend, refute, comment, seek help, sympathize, or even keep quiet might be the right choice. Tests can go wrong, very quickly, if you don’t give evidence or mess around. Which means saving often and in multiple locations is a huge help.

Can it be promoted? I mean, I want justice and a happy ending for my favorite characters at the end of it. But I also feel it would be more balanced if the revelations were spread out throughout the story, rather than rushing at certain points. At least one diagram is present in the game. this makes it easier for you to find your way.
Especially since everything looks so good. Even when Tempest Packed with amazing character designs and environments. I especially love the nuance which means that some characters can look quite different from a different perspective or as plot-related events unfold. It’s great to see a heroine end up becoming a strong-willed individual and have a design that lets you see that she’s meant to be in business.
While Even when Tempest looks great, I’ve had some technical issues. The smallest part of that is that the game doesn’t recognize if you’ve changed the main character’s name. Even though I changed it to mine, other characters often call her by her default name Anastasia. Looks like the goddess’s name might not have been localized properly? It’s Norna, but that’s not what the voice actors are saying. More annoying is how it will randomly crash while I play it. I managed to get through the entire intro without harm. However, once Anastasia took her own destiny into her own hands, it would randomly error and take me to the Switch Home menu.
Even when Tempest is one of those otome switching games that dares to be different, in terms of its gameplay, story and tone. I appreciate what it does, even if it means I need to spend a lot of time on it to unlock routes and ends. It’s a pity that I ran into so many problems. I spend more time saving to make sure I don’t lose progress than I do making sure the tests go as planned. However, it is still attractive and a good addition to the system’s library.
