Harley Davidson Cheeto Boucher joined our family on Friday, November 15, 2019. On November 4 of that year, we had to let our beloved dachshund, Lady, cross a rainbow bridge and our hearts are broken. Even though we know we can never replace Lady, our family knows we have a lot of love for each other, so I found a post online about a date. Online rescue for a small dog named Charlee.

I came to her rescue to visit her to see if she was right for us and we were for her. I know the second I hug her, she’s our missing family member. We surprised our two kids when we picked them up from school and they met their new sibling a few days later. One of the pictures attached is my son, Nick, seeing Harley for the first time. We decided to change Charlee to a Harley, as it seemed appropriate and my husband rides a motorcycle. My kids added Cheeto as another middle name, because this dog LOVES Cheetos!

We know her mother is a dachshund, but her father is unknown. We did a DNA test on her and found out she is a dalmatian 50%. So we have a dalmatian! As she got older, her spots became darker and covered more of her body, so she really does look like a little dalmatian now.

Over the past two years, Harley has been very consistent. She loves to float in the pool on her boogie board (in a bikini, of course). She is enamored with the snow and will go sledding with the kids in the backyard until she shivers and I have to take her inside to warm up in her homemade bonnet and sweatshirt. Warm knits for her by my daughter, Halle. Harley accompanies me every day to take the kids and pick them up from school, and watch the squirrels along the sides of the road from the passenger seat.

She loves to visit our cottage in the woods with us and cuddle up in our bed every night. When she watches TV with my husband, she sits up and leans against him. (see photo) Harley is super smart and very patient. She would sit at the foot of a tree and literally watch the squirrels for hours. She is a very polite eater, and will sit and wait after her food is served until she is served.

Harley has been our friend, our companion, and has been a part of all our joys and sorrows over the past two years. Thanks, Harley. We owe you one.
