By now you may already know that I love and cherish dive deep, especially into Zelda and Pokémon series – I’ve probably written thousands of words analyzing the trailers and lore explanations of the games over the past few years here on Nintendo Life.
So imagine how I felt when I found out that there was an artist out there making a Pokémon X Zelda combo, with incredible thought put into the details. Bilsu Art has been showcasing his “Zelda-based Fakemon Area” for the past few weeks on his YouTube channel and I’ve absolutely fallen in love with it.
This fantasy Pokémon/Zelda game is called “Link Dimension” and it’s super fun. You’ll start the game choosing one of three starter Pokémon, based on the Deku, Goron, and Zora races instead of Grass, Fire, and Water, and they look like this:
But that’s just the beginning! They also evolved into detailed designs, like Goron’s final evo mentioning Death Mountain:
wouldn’t be Zelda without the horrible spiders – sorry, Skulltulas – and Bilsu Art has one really? Cute little version of the Ocarina spider:
And Gohma – you know Gohma, the bug queen you have to fight in almost every Zelda game at this point – has its own line of three evolutions, starting with pain Sweet Gohmite:
There’s Fakemon based on Blue Cucco, Master Sword, Hyrulian Shield, Wallmasters and Ancient Guardians, and Bilsu Art is just started.
You see, to create Link’s Dimension, Bilsu Art completely overhauled the type system. Pokémon types such as Grass, Ground, and Ghost have been renamed to names more suitable for Zelda, but also to expand the net of typing and capturing creatures from the Zelda games that don’t match Pokémon typing. Here’s the full list of Link’s Dimension types and their raw Pokémon equivalents:
