Samantha Randazzo has been appointed Jockey Club manager for the New York Racing Association. She replaces Dr Jennifer Durenberger, who was appointed Horse Safety & Welfare Director of the Authority for Equestrian Safety and Integrity.
The appointment was announced on 23 November by Stuart S. Janney III, president of The Jockey Club.
Janney said: “We are delighted for Dr. Durenberger in her new role with HISA. “Samantha’s experience as a manager at Finger Lakes and years of working in the racing industry make her the ideal person to take on the role of manager of The Jockey Club for the NYRA.”
Randazzo will begin her role as manager of the NYRA on November 25. She has been the manager of The Jockey Club at Finger Lakes since August 3, 2020. Prior to that, she was a substitute manager. state position for the Pari-mutuel Conduct Division for the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, Tallahassee, Fla., and also works in licensing and as a veterinary technician for the department.
Randazzo also served as immigration clerk and judge at Colonial Downs Racecourse, New Kent, Va., and was safety manager for the National Obstacle Association, state management for the Racing Commission. Minnesota, alternate state manager for the New Jersey Racing Commission, and state manager for the Illinois Racing Board, among other positions in the industry.
Randazzo was recognized as a manager from the Racing Official Certification Program for Thoroughbreds in 2014 and for Standard People in 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science/History. of Albright University in Reading, Pa., and a law degree from the University of Toledo College of Law, Toledo, Ohio.
