Connections gave an upbeat message about the icon to stay Stradivarius who is still training at John and Thady Gosden’s Clarehaven Stables after missing the Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup Stakes (G2) in York on August 19 with a bruised foot.
The eight-year-old, who may have brought the curtain down on his glittering career at Knavesmire, could hit the Doncaster Cup (G2) next month if he recovers quickly.
Owner Bjorn Nielsen will make the final decision on whether his star will run again or retire. Before York, there were rumors about Stradivarius even racing at the age of 9 in 2023.
Thady Gosden said: “Of course, it’s very frustrating and disappointing that Stradivarius has to miss York with a bruised foot. It’s not an uncommon problem, but he seems to be recovering well and is fine. .”
He added: “These may take time to get right, but we are pleased with his progress and he is training lightly again.”
Stradivarius has won the Doncaster Cup twice, beating Cleonte odds 1-9 in 2019 and see off Alerta Roja last year as a 4-11 shot.
