Rapid Bus and DBKL have launched a pilot project of bus lanes in Kuala Lumpur, specifically in the Jalan Ipoh corridor. It begins March 1 and the test will last until April 30. The bus lanes will operate on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will be free for all to use. used on weekdays and holidays.
The initiative aims to reduce bus travel time, gauge the bus experience and improve safety for bus passengers, Rapid Bus said.
The main roads involved are Jalan Raja Laut, Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah and Jalan Dang Wangi. Using these new bus lanes will be lines 171 (Wira Damai hub to Lebuh Ampang via Sentul), 173 (Taman Jasa Utama to Lebuh Ampang), 180 (Taman Dato Senu to Pasar Seni center), 190 (Desa). Sri Hartamas to Lin Ho Jalan Lekiu), and 191 (Terminal Sri Segambut with Monorail Chow Kit).
“This pilot project aims to open up the Rapid KL bus line, allowing them to reach their destination faster without being stuck with other vehicles, saving passengers time. Indirectly, it also improves the safety of passengers when they get on or off the bus, as the bus stop will not have private vehicles stopping or parked there or at the roadside,” said Rapid Bus CEO , said Mohammad Yazurin Sallij.
“This also reduces the risk of accidents involving bus passengers and personal vehicles when the bus is forced to stop in the middle of the road to pick up and drop off passengers (due to congested bus stops). This is in line with Bus Rapide’s operating principle of taking passenger safety seriously,” he added, and hopes that during this test, car drivers will abide by the rules. and stay out of the bus lanes.
