Quick Charge BMW Malaysia DC – full list of new rates, RM240 Annual ChargEV subscription required to use
According to our report on the BMW dealer DC fast charger join the ChargeEV network, BMW Group Malaysia has confirmed an updated, cheaper pay-per-use structure for paid ChargEV members. The company said it aims to provide equitable access to the country’s infrastructure across the country with the move.
Again, you will need to sign up for an annual ChargEV membership (RM240 per year) to benefit from the new rates, most of which have been halved and, as before, lower for BMW and MINI drivers . The revised price structure is as follows:
- DC 30 and 60 kW chargers – RM 0.60 per minute of use
- DC 90 and 120 kW chargers – RM 1.40 per minute
- DC charger 150 kW – RM1.50 per minute
- DC charger 180 kW – RM 1.80 per minute
For BMW and MINI owners, the offer is:
- DC 30 and 60 kW chargers – RM 0.40 per minute of use
- DC 90 and 120 kW chargers – RM 1.00 per minute
- DC charger 150 kW – RM 1.20 per minute
- DC charger 180 kW – 1.40 RM per minute
Unlike what has been previously reported, the single 90 kW charger at Ingress Auto Damansara is grouped with 120 kW chargers in a single tier, priced at RM1.40 per minute of charge (RM1.00). per minute for BMW and MINI owners). The only ChargEV dealer exempt from this rate is Regas Premium Auto in Kuchingmade the 120 kW charger free to use.
The list above applies to all BMW dealers with DC chargers, with the exception of Auto Bavaria, which still uses its own payment method (and therefore, separate pricing). A spokesperson has told us that the brand’s largest Malaysian dealer will be available on another fee-based platform, with details to be announced later.
The new rates make charging at BMW dealerships much cheaper than before. Lower end remains the same, cost RM36 per hour with 30 kW charger as at Seong Hoe Premium Auto in Melaka, although this price now also extends to 60 kW chargers like the one at Auto Quill in Petaling Jaya.
At the top end you will now need to pay RM108 per hour for a 180 kW charger as at Wheelcorp Premium in Setia Alam, down from RM216 per hour previously. For BMW and MINI owners, the hourly cost ranges from RM24 to RM84, down from RM168 at the top.
The hourly rate isn’t entirely representative of the actual price you’ll pay, as the faster the charger, the shorter it will take to refill your battery. Use a 180 kW charger per BMW iXfor example you would only need 20 minutes to charge it from 20 to 80%, now it will cost RM28 – just RM4 more than what you pay to plug it in for an hour with a 30 kW charger and you’re done win doesn’t even reach the same charge status at the end with second.
