A family left with only one daughter died and had no answers after a police encounter. NBC News reported that a woman was killed after she was arrested and then fell out of the back of the patrol car she was put in. The police department did not tell the family any details of what really happened, and viewers were left with more questions than answers.

In one release Georgia Bureau of Investigation, police arrested Brianna Marie Grier, 28, on July 15. Her mother called the police because Grier suffered from schizophrenia. She was previously diagnosed with this and is prone to these types of attacks. Police arrived at the house between midnight and 1 a.m. local time, put Grier in handcuffs, and put her in the back of a police cruiser.

The next day, the family was contacted by a county sheriff, who told them Grier “slammed the door and jumped out of the car.” Mind you, most police car with reinforced door by bulletproof or some other method, and patrol cars have automatic locks for the rear doors to prevent this from happening.

Of course, her family didn’t buy the story. But that’s what the department got into. An earlier investigation into the incident said Grier had fallen out of the patrol car. Either way, she’s suffered injuries severe enough that she’s been in a coma since the day it happened. She passed away on July 21 at Grady Memorial Hospital at 1pm

Now her family is left with no answers. The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department did not provide the family with any further details about Grier’s true situation. They did not disclose the names of the officers involved and the department even declined to comment on the matter NBC News. Now, Grier’s mother grieves with a story she doesn’t believe.

“Something went wrong and we want answers. Something was wrong, and my daughter was gone,” she said.

Update 4:35 p.m. ET July 28, 2022: Georhoura’s Buinvestigation concluded investigation of Grier falling from patrol car on July 15. After interviewing, checking camera footage, etc., BuReau determined that the deputy involved in the arrest forgot to close the patrol car door after placing Grier inside the vehicle. GBI said that Grier had resisted getting in the car.

“To get Grier into the patrol car, one of the people in charge went around and opened the rear passenger side door.

The deputy quickly returned to the rear driver’s side door. Both deputies put Grier in the back seat of the patrol car. The delegate closes the driver’s side door behind. The investigation revealed that the co-pilot thought he had closed the rear passenger’s side door.
