Pit Bulls know how to take care of others unlike any other dog. Despite their bad reputation, they are often the loveliest and most caring dogs out there. This became even more apparent when the friendship between the Pit Bull and the squirrel quickly became popular on Reddit and Instagram.
Everly is a rescue Pit Bull with a kind heart. Her mother, Morgan Joy Groves, says that the sweet dog makes friends with nearly everyone, even other animals. Recently, a baby squirrel started hanging out near Everly, and the gentle Pit Bull announced the little animal as his baby.
Nice friendship
Groves just took Everly for a casual walk when they crossed the street with the baby squirrel. The poor little guy was all alone. His mother doesn’t seem to be around, and he has an unusual fascination with Everly. So the squirrel followed Everly home, where they quickly became best friends.
After a tiring walk, Everly first lay down to rest a bit. To her surprise, the little squirrel climbed on top of her and fell asleep with her. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Of course, her cat sister was skeptical at first, but it was clear that Everly and the squirrel were having a good time.
“Everly has a special talent for always being able to make new friends,” Groves commented on Instagram.
Everly and the squirrel’s favorite activity is sleeping together. The sweet Pit Bull always rests right next to her squirrel friend, and she sniffs and grooms him to make sure he’s safe and healthy. During his time with the squirrel, Groves posted some adorable photos of the two of them on Instagram.

As adorable as their friendship is, the squirrel is still a wild animal. Many Reddit users have explained that caring for a squirrel is much more complicated than you might expect. Unfortunately, there are many risks involved. So many people commented to share some care tips with Groves.
With all the information she learned about squirrel cubs, Groves decided that her home wasn’t the best place for a squirrel to grow up. Taking Everly’s new friend away was heartbreaking, but she knew it was for the best. She wanted an expert to help keep the squirrel healthy.
“Our little squirrel friend has been taken to a wildlife center where he will be raised and cared for,” Groves posted on Instagram. “There are two other squirrels his age that he will grow up with, and when he is ready, release him back into the woods together as a family!”
Everly did a great job in keeping the babysitting company. In that squirrel’s mind, the loving Pit Bull will always be like a mother to him.
