Andi gives him some water, but she knows well that he is near death. So she took him in her arms and plunged down the mountain at top speed. She ran for an hour, desperately carrying the 47-pound dog, hoping against the odds that it would survive.
The Pit Bull was taken to the Arizona Humane Society for emergency treatment. Doctors treated an open wound in the dog’s stomach and extracted shrapnel from its neck and spinal cord. Andi was by his side, encouraging him to fight and survive.

Pit Bull got a second chance when Andi sacrificed herself to save him. Elijah, after Andi, was named after the prophet Elijah. She decided to take him home with her because he quickly became healthy bathed in love and care in her new home.

Elijah is currently best friends with Jessi, Andi’s 10-year-old daughter, and the rest of the family. Thank you Andi for not giving up on me. What a touching story of survival!
