Proton EV brand naming contest – guess the Geely Galaxy E5 model name and win up to RM5k

Proton EV brand naming contest – guess the Geely Galaxy E5 model name and win up to RM5k

This just happened – Proton New Energy Technology (Pro-Net) just announced its naming contest The highly anticipated Proton electric vehicle. This is the most public sign yet that the national carmaker’s first electric car model is about to launch, which is expected to launch next year.

Specifically, the contest will allow participants to guess the brand name of the car, suggesting that the latter will be parked under a new sub-brand, similar to Geely’s Galaxy electric car line. The fact that Pro-Net (and not Proton itself) is the organizer of the competition also suggests that the car will be sold through the subsidiary’s dealer network, which makes sense given its electric powertrain. .

As for the trailer itself, the sketch shown above is a tacit confirmation that the new Proton EV will be based on Galaxy Geely E5, revealed earlier this month – that car’s roof rails and slim headlights are visible in the images. The E5 was widely advertised as a donor car, as it was said to have been developed for the right-hand drive market.

The E5 is based on the new Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture (GEA), itself an evolution of the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA), supporting not only pure electric vehicles but also range-extender technology, plug-in hybrid and methanol. It is also said to be the world’s first “AI digital chassis”, integrating powertrain, chassis and driver assistance technologies.

Larger than the X70, the E5 is a C-segment SUV with a length of 4,615 mm, a width of 1,901 mm, a height of 1,670 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. Technical details are yet to be revealed, but reports suggest the car will be powered by a single engine producing 218 PS (160 kW) for a top speed of 175 km/h, combined with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries.

Features include a widescreen digital instrument display, a large infotainment touchscreen and an in-house developed Flyme Sound system. An 800-volt electrical architecture is also said to be included, according to E8 carallows for higher charging speeds.

Interested participants can participate in the competition by filling out the application form Registration form, enter their guess about the appropriate brand name and image in the order of the given sentences. You will then have a chance to win the grand prize of RM5,000 in cash, along with RM1,500 for second place, RM1,000 for third place and RM100 for the remaining 5th place. Contest ends June 5.

“This contest is not just about naming a brand; it is inviting Malaysians to become indispensable participants in shaping the future of mobility. Proton is grateful for the support we have received from Malaysians over the past 41 years and aims to embark on this electric vehicle journey with those at the forefront of our vision,” Pro-Net CEO Zhang Qiang said.
