GMC Sierra electric pickup to launch in 2023 with Denali’s luxurious, luxurious Hummer EV design cues

General Motors’ GMC truck brand has given its first look at an all-electric version of its Sierra full-size pickup truck, with a full design due out in 2022 and expected to appear on the road. market in 2023.

Although the electric GMC Sierra will share the Hummer EV – derived from “Structure sandwich” underpinnings of the Chevrolet Silverado EV — or Silverado E, as it’s called — GMC is hinting that its version may not an affordable, fleet-focused “bulk entry”, as CEO Mary Barra described earlier this year about the Silverado EV.

That will free GMC to focus on other priorities. It says that, at least initially, the electric Sierra will only launch in deluxe Denali guise.

“We now have the opportunity to develop Sierra’s capabilities and technology, through the transition to all-electric propulsion while enhancing the luxury design and comfort associated with Denali,” said Vice President. GMC President Duncan Aldred said.

While the SUT is currently in production, the SUV will go into production in early 2023 — presumably putting the Sierra into production in mid-2023, just behind the SUV. Silverado’s early 2023 timeline.

The electric Sierra will be built at GM’s Hamtramck, Michigan assembly plant, which has been renamed Factory Zero.
