Of course, it would be great if every portrait photographer could afford their own studio, but that’s simply not feasible for most of us. With that said, you’ll be amazed at how much space you need to create creative, engaging, and professional portraits. This great video tutorial will show you how to light and take portraits in a small hallway.

This is a particularly important lesson, as many of us live in cities where space is expensive (e.g. New York City) and it can be easy to think we don’t have room to take pictures. . However, I know a few photographers who shoot close-ups in spaces no larger than a large closet. Sure, having a large studio is convenient and allows for certain creative situations that wouldn’t be possible, but don’t overlook what you can accomplish even in a small space.
