The SsangYong Korando The mid-size SUV is now available in just two variants in Australia after the removal of the entry-level EX.
This means Korando Currently offered only in ELX and Ultimate variants locally. Both are equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine.
They’re only available with front-wheel drive, after discontinuing the 1.6-litre turbo-diesel all-wheel-drive option last year.
A spokesperson for SsangYong Australia confirmed there are no other specification changes to the Korando ELX and Ultimate for 2024.
By the end of March this year, SsangYong had sold a total of 140 Korandos. It’s a far cry from the sales leaders in the mid-size SUV segment incl Toyota RAV4 (10,124 units), Mitsubishi Outlander (7050 units) and Nissan X-Trail (5598 pieces).
However, Korando sells better than mid-size SUVs such as Citroen C5 Aircross (11 units) and Peugeot 3008 (88 apartments).
The current generation SsangYong Korando dates back to 2019 and has not received any updates since then. There was an electric version called the Korando E-Motion offered in other markets, but while it was being evaluated for Australia it never made it here.
SsangYong, now known as KG Mobility in other markets, has confirmed it will introduce a new model Torres SUV – another mid-sized SUV – comes to Australia.
Gasoline models will arrive in July, while an electric version called the Torres EVX will launch in the fourth quarter of 2024.

There are currently only two SsangYong Korando variants on offer locally.

Transmission system
The entire SsangYong Korando product line is equipped with engines 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine manufacture 120kW power and 280Nm of torque.
This is mated to an Aisin-sourced six-speed automatic transmission with drive sent to the front wheels only.
Effective
The 2024 SsangYong Korando has a published combined fuel economy index of 7.7L/100km.
Both variants have a 47-litre fuel tank and require a minimum of 95 RON premium unleaded petrol.
Size
SsangYong Korando 2024 has dimensions at 4450mm long, 1870mm wide and 1629mm high, with a 2675mm The standard long.
Boot space with the rear seats upright is said to be good 407Lextended to 1104L with them folded.
Korando has an unbraked towing capacity of 500kg and a braked towing capacity of 1500kg.
Service and warranty
The SsangYong Korando is covered by one Seven-year warranty, unlimited kilometers with seven years of roadside assistance.
Logbook servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first. The first seven services are limited to $295 each.
Safety
SsangYong Korando received five-star ANCAP safety rating based on testing conducted by Euro NCAP in 2019.
It scored 88% for adult protection, 86% for child protection, 68% for vulnerable road user protection and 72% for safety assistance.
