Premium Pit Bulls bonded to “Married” in the hope of being adopted together
Fran and Earl tied the knot! Two Senior Pit Bulls are a bonded pair hoping to be adopted together. It’s hard for a senior Pit Bull to find a home, but anyone willing to buy two is a saint. So, to increase the couple’s chances of adoption, the shelter decided to hold a “wedding” for them to get their attention.
Now that Fran and Earl’s love has been shared publicly, they hope to find a forever home together. But who will give them a comfortable space to live out their senior years?
At least they have each other
Fran was about 10 years old, and Earl was about 12. The two had to surrender together because their families could not support their medical bills. It was a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved, but Fran and Earl seemed overjoyed to be together.
Homeward Animal Shelter in Fargo, North Dakota, it was hoped that the two could be adopted together, but finding someone to adopt one, let alone two older dogs was no easy feat. So, to increase their odds, the shelter’s employees planned an adorable wedding for the adorable pair of dogs.
To kick off the event, Earl proposed to Fran with a sign that read: “Will you marry me?” Of course, Fran said yes without hesitation!

“After all these years together, Earl finally decided to ask the big question… and she said, YES! That’s right, everyone, Fran & Earl are officially JOINed! Fran couldn’t stop grinning in her ear and was already planning the wedding. Earl was happy when she said yes. Wish the happy couple! Homeward Animal Shelter wrote on Facebook.
Knot!
Fran and Earl decide to have a small ceremony with some of their closest friends. Their wedding party included adoptable dogs: Stella, Rosie, Koda and Brute. The couple supported numerous local businesses for other aspects of the wedding, such as flowers, photography and cakes.
The two lovers spent a lot of time preparing, so they could look their best. The shelter team helped sort things out and then walked the dogs down the aisle. One human even celebrated their wedding.
“We want people to see how amazing these dogs are. They are sweet and lovely dogs. They deserve the best home and love. They are amazing,” Heather Klefstad told Homeward Animal Shelter.
After the ceremony, the happy couple enjoyed a fang-shaped cake. They also took many lovely photos during their wedding reception.
Next: A Forever Home!
Fran and Earl’s wedding has now attracted the attention of many dog lovers, who hope it will help them find their next forever family. Both dogs are easy going, but despite their age, they still have a playful side.

They get along well with cats, other dogs, and children, but because they can get a lot of pain as seniors, they need to be around children who are gentle and respect their boundaries. They also like any canine sibling that isn’t dominant because Fran likes to be in command.
If you or someone you know would like to give Fran and Earl a home, please fill out an application for adoption. They deserve to find a home where they can be comfortable for the rest of their lives.
