Premier League 2022/23: Manchester United suffered a shock 4-0 defeat to Brentford

Erik ten Hag’s lead to the Premier League suffered its second defeat in a week as Manchester United fell 4-0 to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.

The Thomas Frank-managed side eliminated United early in the game with four goals in the first half.

The Red Devils’ day of terror began with goalkeeper David de Gea giving the hosts a goal after he let Josh da Silva shoot past him.

The Spaniard was again at fault for the second goal. Mathias Jensen blocked De Gea’s risky pass to Erisken and scored after a misplaced shot in the 17th minute.

Brentford took the lead in the 29th minute with Ben Mee heading in after a deep corner returned by Ivan Toney. The home side ended the game with a sharp counter-attack as Ivan Toney fed Bryan Mbeumo to end the game.

Manchester United tried to find rhythm throughout the game and couldn’t get through even in the second half as the team suffered a second consecutive defeat.
