The chase began in Los Alamitos, northeast Orange County. Video of the chase shows the motorcyclist riding the first generation Kawasaki KLR650 dual sport with light red bodywork. He wears a black helmet and black cycling gear, and has a black tail pocket attached to the back of the bike.

With two CHP motoring officers on a Harley-Davidson close behind, the suspect headed north into Los Angeles County on the 110 freeway. As reported by Fox 11 News, the SkyFox helicopter recorded speeds of up to 90 mph during highway pursuit.

The suspect then skimmed the road between cars and trucks on a congested intersection, merges with U.S. Highway 101, then exits the freeway and swerves through the neighborhood. Echo Park, near downtown Los Angeles.

In another 22 minutes, the motorcyclist took a loop through Echo Park, even passing Elysian Park, home to Dodger Stadium and the Los Angeles City Police Academy.

Elysian Park is full of hiking trails, and the KLR-mounted driver quickly leaves the sidewalk for a short ride on one of the trails. In the video, he is partially obscured by a tree cover.

Back at the Stadium, the suspect exited Elysian Park and navigated a zigzag lane on Sunset Boulevard, Laguna Avenue, Echo Park Avenue, Glendale Avenue, Alvarado Street and busy urban streets Others, often go between cars and trucks at traffic lights.

Perhaps realizing his attempt to evade was futile, the motorcyclist pulled over in the parking lot of an apartment building and parked his KLR650 in the back. He parked his car near a set of stairs, put his foot down and took off his helmet, as if he had just come home from work on an ordinary day.

A Harley CHP ran up behind the suspect, and before the motorcyclist could disembark, two CHP officers behind drew their guns. The suspect was brought to the ground and handcuffed without struggle.

According to Fox 11 News, no injuries were reported, which is a relief after an hour-long chase through two of the most populous counties in the US.

Pro tip: Don’t be like this guy. If you want to speed or other violation, pull over. You cannot outrun helicopters and radios. Getting the police to chase you is dangerous and will make your problems a lot worse.
