PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe hits PlayStation this year – PlayStation.Blog

PixelJunk is back on PlayStation! I’m Dylan Cuthbert, founder of indie studio Q-Games, and I’m excited to share that our crazy party game, PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe, is coming to PlayStation. The game will launch later this year on both PS5 and PS4, and we can’t wait to share what we’re working on.

The PixelJunk series of games recently celebrated its 15th anniversary. We’re excited to return to the spirit home of PixelJunk on PlayStation with a brand new entry in the series. We have the first trailer to share along with a deep dive into what you can expect when we launch, so let’s get to it.

Slam dunk trash

PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe combines the nostalgic excitement of traditional arcade games with the multiplayer frenzy of classic couch co-op for a true matching experience. It’s a beat-up and also a cleanup, focused on cleaning up the streets of Junktown. Literally, by piling up trash, and figuratively, by wiping out waves of enemy robots. Garbage means cash on these streets, and your bounty grows as you throw more items (and enemies eliminated) in the back of your garbage truck.

We set out to create a gameplay combination that was fun, easy to pick up and play, but also challenging to master. It takes serious skills to overcome the worst of the junk bots in PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe. You can choose to play with help from our AI helper bot, SCRAP, or share the fun with up to four players locally or online by playing cross-platform.

As you progress, you’ll battle giant enemies, pile sky-high garbage piles, and trash talk to your friends along the way. From cooperative missions to head-to-head challenges, mini-games to boss battles, no two trips to Junktown are alike. There are also tons of weapons to discover, a variety of Scrappers to recruit, and over 100 unique truck parts to unlock.

Junktown Street Cleanup

The Q-Games studio has been based in Kyoto for over 22 years, so it’s fun to draw inspiration from our favorite locations and traditions and see them reflected in the cyberpunk streets of the game. There are over 25 levels to explore across Junktown’s 5 packed areas, each inspired by the sights and eclectic sounds of Japan.

The fourth area on the world map is Kawaii Kyoto, and we actually came to town to pay homage to some of our treasured local places and traditions from across the wider region. . From the bamboo forests of Arashiyama to traditional Japanese Awa-inspired trash cans, the design of the world means a lot to us and we hope you enjoy exploring it as well. like we love bringing it to life.

From everyone here at Q-Games, we look forward to welcoming you to Junktown to help us clean up the streets when PixelJunk Scrappers Deluxe launches on PlayStation later this year.

Let’s go Scrappers!
