Matt Weinmann of Equine Analysis Systems, who acts as a consultant to Bernhards, said: “She’s a gorgeous mare, as Gun Runner’s pony; She’s probably one of my favorite gymnasts of the day.” “Really high quality mare, on the pony list of one of the best studs on the planet. We’re incredibly happy to have her. I think that’s our final bid. that we set out to. Luckily, we got her.”
Leah O’Meara of Stonehaven Steadings was moved by the gust of wind.
“We own her with my parents, with the farm, so I don’t want to put her out here, but I’m glad we did,” she said with tears in her eyes. “She’s exceeded my expectations so far. I’m speechless.”
Acquired privately by Stonehaven Steadings last year, Sweet Sami D was bred by Farfellow Farms in Kentucky from Kadesh’s Gallop Victory Mare Pact, daughter of 1994 Bayakoa Handicap (G2) winner Aspiration Peace. She had a 4-4-4 record from 21 starts, earned $254,200 and finished third in the 2019 Monmouth Oaks (G3). Stonehaven sent her out for the first time, for the third time. in All Along Stakes 2021 at Laurel Park in October 2021, then take her home to the ranch.
Aidan O’Meara said: ‘She’s been a mare that’s just blossomed since she’s been on the farm. “We put her in the pony group with Gun Runner last year thinking it was going to come this way, then of course, Gun Runner went on and did well… We decided to take a chance. and see what the market will do.
“There was an obvious attachment to her, it was bittersweet. We talked to ourselves about taking her away and even when we were out of here we were (discussed) about what might or might not happen, but this is an amazing result, we’re so happy we made the decision we made and come here with her. item and it’s unbelievable.”

Momentum continued for Stonehaven Steadings from the September Anniversary Sale in Keeneland, where they sold US$1.55 million and ranked average among the top 10 shippers of the sale. However, on Tuesday, Sweet Sami D is their only sale. Their other horse across the ring, Twilight Curfew, failed to meet her reserve when the hammer dropped for $195,000.
Aidan O’Meara said: “We lost our word in September here, but this is even more unbelievable. “It’s hard to fathom what we’ve been through in a year, it’s unbelievable. We’ve been so lucky and so many things have come our way in an industry where people don’t. Things are known to be as difficult as there are trying things, but we’ve been blown out of the water.
“It’s just been an incredible year for us, and hopefully we can use this as a catalyst to build on and we look forward to continuing to move forward.”
