The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition Releases September 6th

Welcome back

If you’re new to The Tomorrow Children, welcome to Void! I’m Dylan Cuthbert, Game Director and CEO at Q-Games in Kyoto. I’m proud to be here to share today’s reveal with you, which includes a plethora of announcements for both new and veteran players alike. As a quick new installment, The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition takes place in an alternate future after a failed attempt to unite the minds of all humanity. The return of civilization is now in the hands of the Projection Clone; lifeforms capable of adventuring deep into the Void in search of preserved survivors. That’s where you go…

If you’re a returning player, you’ll definitely notice a lot of fun in today’s gameplay trailer. Since acquiring IP last year, we’ve added a lot of content to bring exciting new experiences to The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition. I want to start things off by recommending you one of my personal favorite supplements; Stone in block.

Gate to the Void

We decided early on in development that we wanted to add more islands. It’s an easy choice to make. Deciding which idea to implement was… harder. With countless promising concepts in hand, we set out to explore how we could diversify the Void into the many ways we had in mind. Monolithic rock gave us the perfect gateway to expand existing islands and transform them into new landscapes, creating a vast experience that now spans over 40 islands in total.

Monoliths are tower-like structures that can be discovered hidden among islands emerging from the Void. They create new and mysterious ways to explore and by activating one you can uncover more untold secrets about an island. Our design team has actually come to town to enhance existing islands and develop hidden areas and discovered treasures, showcasing previously unexplored parts of the Void. To make things more interesting, certain Monoliths can only be activated by multiplayer, and others reveal branching lines and additional matryoshka dolls that need to be rescued. This addition really takes island exploration to the next level!

Struggling with new heights

Speaking of taking things to the next level, we’ve also added a whole new way to traverse landscapes in the Void. The Grappling Hook does the job of climbing even the tallest of islands, and we’ve had a lot of fun in our recent play tests as we pushed its usage to the limit! Wrestling through the Void is a great way to get around and we can’t wait to hear what you think about it later this year.

Control

Since the original game was removed from the store, I was asked multiple times to find a way to make Tomorrow’s Kids playable offline. I fully understand your desire to preserve your town indefinitely and today I can finally confirm that we have made this a possibility.

The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition includes an offline single-player mode that uses Comrade’s AI to complement your solo expedition into the Void. They’ll help repair buildings, transport resources, defend the town with turrets and rocket launchers, and even shake trees for apples when the townspeople are hungry. You can also set a priority for what you want them to do in the Police Department. AI comrades can also be claimed while playing online, so if you need assistance while waiting for your friends to join your town, you can use AI’s teamwork to get things moving. .

Another new addition is our side code system. This allows players to work together in an online town and makes it easier than ever to connect with friends. You can change your group code at any time to restrict or open access to anyone you choose. The server will also be able to ban errant teammates.

Collaborate and transform your world

It’s a brand new premium experience, packed with new features, and we’ve also eliminated all reliance on external servers to ensure the game is here to stay. The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition will retail for $40/40 euros / £35 / ¥4000 with a very special early bonus available for the first two weeks of launch. We’ll have more details to share about that soon!

Here’s a quick recap of some of the new experiences coming to The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition as it launches on PlayStation 4 with improvements for PlayStation 5:

I want to extend a big thank you to everyone who has shared our excitement since we announced The Tomorrow Children: Phoenix Edition. Your continued support really means a lot. In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing a closer look at what’s to come when we launch on September 6 in Europe and North America and September 7 in Japan.
