The Philadelphia 76ers and free agent forwarding PJ Tucker is finalizing a three-year, $33.2 million deal, his agent told The Athletic.
The Sixers also agreed to trade with freelance bodyguards Danuel House and Trevelin Queen, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Sources say House’s deal is for two years and $8.5 million.
After winning the championship with Milwaukee Bucks in 2021, Tucker joins another Eastern Conference contender in the Heat, giving them the best record in last season’s convention.
Tucker, 37, particularly shone in the knockout stages, where he hit 45% of 3-pointers while playing 28 minutes per game in the Miami finals game. Despite his age, Tucker once again demonstrated exceptional endurance after playing 71 games in the regular season and then all of Miami’s 18 playoffs.
Heat team president Pat Riley called Tucker a “platform” player during his press conference after Miami’s season ended in a loss Boston Celtics in Game 7. Tucker opted out of his $7.4 million player option with Miami before the free agent.
Tucker spent five seasons playing abroad after he was exempted by Toronto Raptors at the end of his rookie year and gained a reputation as one of the NBA’s top key players primarily due to his versatile defense and toughness.
Tucker has a career average of 7.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
