The Petersen’s Automobile MuseumIts latest exhibition will feature a multitude of the most innovative electric motorcycles ever built by cutting-edge designers. Open to the public on April 14, 2022, in Richard Varner Family GalleryThe unique “Electric Revolution” collection is an exclusive look at the groundbreaking creations of visionaries at the forefront of the ever-expanding electric motorcycle industry.
New exhibit highlights include “KillaJoule,” the land speed racer that made Eva Hakansson the fastest woman to ride an electric motorcycle at 240.7 mph. Built by Hakansson and her husband at home and on a limited budget, the “KillaJoule” is the fastest sidecar arranger ever, regardless of engine type.
On the slower side of the spectrum are “Solar Sleds” and “Solar Tractors” created by Samuel Aboagye. The Ghanaian teenager has built both using only salvaged, discarded and recycled materials he can provide for free. The world premiere will be the sophisticated and sophisticatedly designed “The One” by Curtiss Motors. Conceptualized by JT Nesbitt, “The One” has a nostalgic design and build quality normally found only in supercars.

Following on from the Petersen Museum’s first ever popular electric motorcycle exhibition, “Electric Revolution”, in 2019, the new exhibit features more than 25 unique guest electric motorcycles created by the Foundation Co-Founder Motor / Cycle Arts Paul D’Orléans is in charge.

“I am extremely excited to be bringing together this incredibly diverse collection of electric vehicle pioneers. ‘Electric revolutionaries’ truly represent the range of interest in an electric future, from a humble teenager in Ghana building electric cars from scrap, to genius artisans building designs ideas and boundaries, to speed the devil and global superstar designers interested in pushing mobility into the green,” said d’Orleans. “Electric Revolutionaries” is produced by the Motor / Cycle Arts Foundation and Sasha Tcherevkoff with support from LiveWire.

“It’s unbelievable how far electric motorcycles have come in the short time since our first show in 2019,” said Terry L. Karges, executive director of the Petersen Automotive Museum. “This new display offers a close-up and unique look at the innovative machines and the creators behind them that push the boundaries of electrification and motorcycle design. The detail, level of craftsmanship and unorthodox thinking behind these electric motorcycles make them a must see.”
Other notable electric motorcycles on display include Joey Ruiter’s “NOMOTO,” disguised as utilitarian street furniture, and his “Moto Undone” geometric concept. Also part of the exhibition is the ultra-minimalist “RONTU” by renowned motorcycle designer Walt Siegl, using carbon fiber, aluminum and no body panels to help the bike weigh just around 100 lbs. The Pioneer of Hugo Eccles and the award-winning “XP Zero”, a radical reinterpretation of the production process No SR / F become a cafe racer of the future, also one of many unique and innovative electric motorcycle collections.
