I am sharing with a heavy heart the passing of Stanley Becker, one of our top commentators and a longtime icon on Mercola.com. Since joining the site on November 12, 2012, Stanley has contributed 14,724 posts, made many friends, and earned dedicated followers along the way.
Making an average of four posts a day, the millions of words of support Stanley shares have resonated within the Mercola.com community, members of which describe him as a “light” and “a treasure.” His contributions to the community will be greatly remembered but not forgotten.
An Avid reader and Student of Life
When he joined the site in 2012, Stanley’s brief autobiography tells of his love of reading and his thirst for learning as he tries different eating methods in search of good health and well-being. strong:
“I’m reading Martin Heidegger’s Present and Time – this difficult book has been staring me down from my bookshelf since 1973. hard times to read, it seems to flow quite smoothly in a fuzzy abstract way. – relating to food –
I followed many medical pioneers like Nathan Pritikin in the late 1970s, early 1980s – he took on a form of imprint that introduced the influential Dr. Dennis Burkitt [owing to my admiration of his science]when I decided to do the Pritikin diet –
Like most devotees, the constant hunger and thirst of a fat-free diet became inevitable but Pritikin was a great educator and many of the dietary ideas became popular. so what’s popular today all come from him –
years later I studied Barry Sears’ “Region” Diet and then I turned to Okinawan nutrition theory – today I’m interested in Paleo theories – summarizing – my understanding of food is like air and water. with the sun in which I exist – my understanding of this existence is limited by the possibilities afforded by my continued existence –
I do my best to remain alert to possibilities as they manifest by maximizing what consciousness enters into me and offers itself to me – this state of being is ultimately vital. religious and modest at best when describing it to others. “
In a 2015 update, Stanley wrote, “I’ve read more books since this day and, more importantly, I’m three years older – maybe wiser and hopefully healthier.” A “final note” posted in 2016 detailed his continued dedication to the Mercola.com community, which continued for many years afterward:

In honor and memory of Stanley Becker
On May 24, 2022, member Poiesis first shared the news of Stanley’s death, writing:first
“Dear Mercolans ~ I am saddened to announce that dear Stanley Becker passed away over the weekend; he is an avid follower of JM and greatly enjoys applying his magical soul knowledge to this site… may his soul be free, beautiful + joyful ~ let’s say kaddish because he x amen x. “
Many people have begun to wonder about his absence from commenting, and praise has poured in after the announcement. Otis101 said, “I have always seen Stan as a scholar of wisdom, a classicist, a common sense, and a fighter for what he believes in. Stan and I have always been united in our fight against Monsanto and their CRAAP. Animals and plants are chemically recycled. Fly light and high, Stan. ”
Rrealrose added, “Feels like something is up when Stan…never misses a chance to comment! … Stan is almost always on target, almost all of the time. Truly a treasure…,” and Brianallen1 said, “I would definitely miss Stanley’s insight and intelligence. ” Across the site, it is clear that Stanley has made his mark in the lives of many through his frequent contributions, and his dedication continues:
