Parker turns to Warren because Joyce fights without going first
New contract of BOXXER Joseph Parker hoped he could still fight Joe Joyce but refused to accept that it was his fault that the deal to face ‘The Juggernaut’ fell through.
The two heavyweights attended the Tyson Fury-Dillian Whyte event on April 23 at Wembley Stadium. They were joined directly by Joyce promoter Frank Warren, who revealed that the contenders will be pitted against each other in a Queensbury Promotion over the summer. The traditional confrontation then also took place behind the scenes. However, there has never been an official announcement.
By the time Parker’s manager David Higgins continues to reiterate that a deal is not yet finalized. Then, on June 11, it was announced that the former WBO Heavyweight champion had committed his future to BOXXER and fought on Sky Sports.
Parker said to talkSPORT he hopes to fight in late September or early October.
“We still want to fight Joyce,” he added. “I know they [Queensbury] said because I signed with another platform, we couldn’t make that happen, but this is where the ego comes into play. I’m sure Frank Warren can put Joe on the Sky podium and fight me. It’s number one and number two fighting each other, so why not make it happen. ”
Host Adam Catterall, which featured journalist Gareth A. Davies, later played a clip from their interview with Warren, who gave his side a look at why the war was on. Joyce doesn’t happen.
“As you know in Tyson’s last fight with him, and Joe together, and we announced that would be done.
We agreed on the terms, I shook hands with Joe and then got the lawyers to get the contract which took a long time. They finally finished and I heard the day before that he had signed with Sky, and I sent him a text that I am reading now. On June 9 at 12.56 I said, ‘Just been told the fight is over for your handshake’. And then I got a text back at 21.33 saying “Morning Frank sorry took a while to finalize the deal but was offered a better deal last minute”. “
Parker was then asked to respond and return the ball to Warren’s court.
“Yes, I was offered a better contract. Frank can say whatever he wants to say. Frank kept changing the deal. Contracts are constantly changing and that’s why it takes so long to close. Every time they come back there is always something different in there. “
“I told him I could make the fight happen,” he continued. “I shook his hand in a deal and then suddenly [he] went back and changed the deal.
We can say this over and over, but why can’t we make the war happen? Just because he’s on BT Sport and I’m on Sky Sports doesn’t mean we can’t make it happen. It’s all about me.
“It is a fight that we need to fight. Anyway, we’ve already announced that. It’s number one and number two fighting for the must, so why not make it happen. Our team is in talks with Frank to try to make it happen. Hopefully we can nail something down in the future.”
After hearing the list of candidates, who would be the right opponent, from Gareth A. Davies Parker made it clear who he wants to fight.
“I want to fight Joe Joyce or Dillian Whyteor any of the top 5 available. I want to progress and become better as a boxer than go into light fights or easy fights. “
