Panasonic GH6 firmware update will enable 4K/120p ProRes RAW recording to Atomos Ninja V+
When Panasonic announced Lumix GH6 back in February, the company promised a future firmware update that would bring 4K/120p RAW output for a Monitor/record Atomos Ninja V +. Now, Panasonic has delivered on that promise with firmware version 2.0, which will be available on July 5.
More specifically, the update allows users to record ProRes RAW in DCI 4K at 120p as well as 5.7K at 60p via Atomos Ninja V+. You will need Ninja V+, as the original Ninja V only supports 4K/60p and 5.7K/30p. If you’re shooting with an anamorphic lens, you’ll get ProRes RAW 4:3 at 4.4K at up to 60p and 5.8K at up to 30p with the Ninja V+.
The new firmware also adds support for recording ProRes 422 and ProRes 422 HQ internally at DCI 4K and Full HD at up to 60p, in addition to the current 5.7K options, with the ability to add 1080p ProRes recording to SD card. (ProRes at higher resolutions still need to be recorded to the CFexpress card.) ProRes, ProRes RAW or ProRes options for anamorphic recording at UHD 4K resolution are not mentioned. This update also doesn’t include the promised USB-C write to SSD capability.

Panasonic announces release of new critical firmware update for GH6
Newark, NJ (June 7, 2022) – Panasonic has announced that the company will be releasing firmware update program Ver.2.0 for the LUMIX GH6 to enhance performance and usability. Firmware program will be available at LUMIX Global Customer Support website https://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/ at 1 a.m. UTC on July 5, 2022.
Together with ATOMOS, a global company that creates innovative technologies and cloud services for filmmakers everywhere, Panasonic has created a new firmware that enables RAW video data to be exported up to 5 ,8K/29.97p and C4K/119.88p over HDMI to be recorded as Apple ProRes RAW on ATOMOS NINJA V and NINJA V+ devices.
First introduced in February 2022, the critically acclaimed LUMIX GH6 has been recognized for its exceptional performance and video processing capabilities among existing and new GH users worldwide. Over time, the GH6 will evolve with firmware updates to further enhance performance and usability to meet the changing needs of creators.

A LUT (Look Up Table) specifically designed for RAW video recorded on NINJA V/V+ is available on the following customer support website for color grading similar to V-Log/V-Gamut. With this update, it is possible to download low-compression and high-quality data directly to a PC without transcoding for smooth NLE (non-linear editing)
