Over 60,000 KTM & Husqvarna models affected by TKC80 Tire recall
KTM North America is recalling 17 KTM and Husqvarna motorcycle models (models 2019-2023) because their Continental TKC 80 dual sport tires may have cracks in the tread, resulting in tire separation and lack of grip. Street.
According to recall documents, cracks longer than 3/16 inches can develop in the tread grooves.
If this happens, the vehicles in question will not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 119, “New Pneumatic Tires-Different from Passenger Vehicles” and therefore not legal on the road.
This tire recall affects 60,807 KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles.

Digging into the recall, Continental Tire Americas (CTA) has filed a Non-Conformity Information Report (NHTSA ID 22T003) to initiate a recall of the entire line of ContiScoot tires due to potential tread cracks in May. 2 year 2022.
During this investigation, CTA evaluated and performed durability testing on additional motorcycle tire products.
From February to April of the same year, additional endurance tests showed that other products from the Continental TKC80, ContiGo !, K62 and LB tire lines were also susceptible to developing groove cracks.
On April 29, 2022, the CTA made a determination that noncompliance existed across various products and therefore decided to initiate this recall.
CTA is not aware of any field claims for this condition and has not received any reports of property damage or personal injury claims for the affected products. Similarly, KTM North America is not aware of any claims at the scene and has not received any reports of property damage or personal injury.
To remedy this situation, KTM dealers will replace the affected tires free of charge. The owner’s notice letter is expected to be mailed on September 19, 2022.
