Content, Design and Setup
In the box is a 200W Ugreen Nexode, a 3.3 ft (1 m) USB-C power and charging cable. It’s a perfectly attractive device that blends black with a sleek silver look. I especially appreciate that the company’s name is tasteful and unpretentious, blends harmoniously with the rest of the style and fits well in any space.
At the bottom is a non-slip pad to keep the device in place. At over a pound, the device is pretty heavy, but that’s a plus in my book. I have too many plastic USB sockets, lightweight, that can slide and slide around my desk when cables pull into them and always look messy. After you put the Nexode down, it stays there, even with lots of cables pulling in, and it looks good too.
Setup is simple: plug it in and start charging. Thankfully, there’s no brick at the top of the plug, just a normal three-pronged plug, which means the unit takes up only one outlet space and doesn’t get in the way of others.
Performance and Usage
I feel that choosing four USB-C ports and two USB-A ports is the right balance. At any given time, I’m drawing about 100 watts from the charger, using a variety of protocols. The charger worked flawlessly, not only turning off all my devices but also doing so at the maximum speed their respective protocol allows. This is especially important to me, as I often need to power my devices for a short period of time. For example, I need to replenish my iPad during my lunch break before a few afternoon classes, or I will need to turn off my watch after using GPS to walk for hours without losing too much time using it for tracking. total steps for my health insurance.
