It was definitely a tough weekend. Honestly, it wasn’t the weather I was expecting. Heading into this round, I had some riders ask me what the weather was like on Phillip Island in November. You know I said it’s okay you know, you think November will be a little sunny and warm. I think this was one of the worst weather we had at the WorldSBK meet at Phillip Island so it was tough.

“The weather definitely made it quite difficult. On Friday, we showed that we were quickly in the dry. However, yesterday we struggled a bit in the wet weather. I only had one round in the qualifiers and I ruined my one and only round.

“In terms of the Second Race today, I had one of the worst starts of my life. I managed to hit some back positions. I think if I had had a better start and a better qualified position, I would have stayed with the top team.

“But overall, today is a good day. Eighth place is ok. That said, as a racer you always expect more of yourself and overall it was a tough year. But at the same time, it was a big learning year.

“Being able to get behind some of the people we raced with today, who have probably been here more times than me, is a good way to end the year. We understand that getting around my house won’t be easy. You still have to put in as much effort as any other round.

“In the end, I am satisfied with the eighth place. More importantly, I’m happy to end the weekend with a good result. However, you are always looking for a little more.

“Thank you to everyone who came to Phillip Island this weekend. It’s good to give half of the show to everyone today. I hope everyone enjoy today all weekend.

“I can’t wait to return to Island in February 2023 for the first round of the SBK World Championship. Remember to come back here, where hopefully I can bring better results for everyone.”
