Old friends celebrate Silver Charm’s 28th birthday – Video –
While COVID-19 protocols limit crowd size, some fans defied rain and cold on February 22 to wish the classic double winner Silver Charm Happy 28th Birthday at Old Friends Retirement Ranch near Georgetown, Ky.

Finally was Old Friends founder Michael Blowen, who said interest in 1997 Kentucky Derby (G1) Silver Charm winner kept the retirement farm going. Old Friends is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his victory in this year’s Derby and Preakness.
Bred by Mary Lou Wooton in Kentucky, Silver Charm was promoted by Bob and Beverly Lewis. He was coached by Bob Baffert and he was ridden to victory in the Derby and Preakness Stakes (G1) by Gary Stevens.
