Oh No – The Guardian is also a Climate Alarmer even to Michael Mann – Do you care about that?

h/t Dr. Willie Soon; WUWT recently released a Guardian statement that “The total climate crisis cannot be stopped“. Turns out this claim is too pessimistic, even for the climate scientist Michael Mann.

Bill McGuire, the scientist cited by the original Guardian article, seems to feel his words were misinterpreted.

The Guardian quoted McGuire as sayingI know a lot of people who work in climate science who say one thing in public but say a very different thing in private. With confidence, they’re all much more fearful of the future we face, but they won’t admit it in public. I call this climate relief and I believe it only makes things worse. The world needs to know how bad things are going to get before we can hope to start addressing the crisis..“.

How does this reconcile with McGuire apparently accusing writers on Guardian headlines of misinterpreting his words, given their headlines Expert says: ‘Soon to be unrecognizable’: total climate recession can’t be stopped.

Dear readers, welcome to read Guardian article caused this scramble, see if you can figure out what McGuire’s problem was. I think the title is a fair summary of the content – but think your own.

As for Mann, he seems to have taken on the role of Guardian of the Balance himself.

Keeping the climate alarm movement going seems like a delicate balancing act between fear and despair. Michael Mann regularly warns activists of the dangers of “climate extermination”, so pessimistic that people lose motivation to be activists. From what I’ve read, their ideal activist must be nervous enough to be motivated, but still have to believe that their personal intervention can help avert the crisis.

Of course, not everyone who internalizes the climate crisis message has achieved the mental balance that climate leaders encourage.

In 2019 the leading drug addiction treatment experts Dr. Alex Wodak offered an explanation for why drug addiction was on the rise, when he testified to an Aussie government tape investigation that Climate despair is one of the factors that cause young people to destroy their own lives with drugs.
