The New York Racing Association announced June 24 a substantial increase of more than $1.6 million to their purse schedule for the 2022 summer meeting at Racecourse Saratogapremieres on Thursday, July 14, and continues through Monday, September 5.
The Saratoga Summer Encounter Condition Book is now available Online. Actual copies of the condition book will be available in Belmont Park The racing office starts Wednesday, June 29.
“We are pleased to be able to provide these wallet increases for the mid-range core of our racing program,” said Frank Gabriel Jr., senior vice president of racing operations at NYRA. I. “We look forward to continuing to support our riders at the upcoming Saratoga summer meeting. These budget increases should only complement the already competitive races offered at the meeting. the nation’s biggest race.”
All open-end races two and three out of allowance will increase from $15,000 to $120,000 and $125,000, respectively, while a race off allowance will increase from $12,000 to $115,000. Limits one and two in addition to allowances will increase from $5,000 to $95,000 and $100,000, respectively.
The $50,000 starters allowance will add $8,000 and provide a $70,000 wallet while the races asking for $50,000 will provide an $80,000 wallet, up $8,000 from last year. Additionally, there will be a $6,000 increase for the $40,000 level, a $5,000 increase for the $25,000 level, and a $4,000 gain for both the $32,000 and $20,000 levels. All claims wallets that exceed the 2:1 claim price ratio are subject to approval by the New York State Gaming Commission.
The Women’s Open Special Weightlifting Races at Saratoga will enjoy a $5,000 boost, rising to $105,000. The special weight of the New York-bred maiden will increase from $3,000 to $88,000.
In addition to these purse increases, the NYRA Maiden Allowance Auction Series will return this summer for the fourth time since its launch in 2019. All races in this series are restricted to horses. sold or RNA for $50,000 or less at the time of most recent Equibase-accredited auction, providing additional incentive and opportunity for competing owners in Saratoga.
The Maiden Allowance Auction Series races will be offered in the first condition book of the Saratoga meeting in the amount of $83,000, an increase of $3,000 from 2021. Maiden will also include up to $14,442 in the New York Livestock Fund’s open company owner prize for New York crossbreeds that finish first through third in the Early Allowance Auction Series. first.
Pari-mutuel betting funds the majority of accounts in NYRA wallets, this money is given to riders and thus benefits hundreds of small businesses operating at NYRA racetracks and others dependent on Purebred racing. Thoroughbred racing in New York State causes 19,000 jobs and more than $3 billion in economic impact annually statewide.
