Nissan X-Trail 2023 price and specifications – UPDATED


The long-awaited fourth generation Nissan X-Trail will finally arrive in Australia in the fourth quarter of this year, prices from $36,750 before road costs.

Landed more than two years after it was revealed globally in the form of the US marketThe new X-Trail promises to be a huge improvement over its longstanding predecessor, which remains one of Australia’s most popular SUVs.

Prices rise – what else do you expect in 2022? – but so is the level of technology, and the design is considerably more modern. Indeed, Nissan calls the new X-Trail “their most advanced SUV to date”.

Nissan will offer four spec grades and both front- and all-wheel drive to its competitors with TOYOTA RAV4, Mazda CX-5, Mitsubishi Outlander (shares its platform), other car, Hyundai Tucson and Subaru Forester.

Two base trim levels, ST and ST-L, come standard with front-wheel drive (2WD) and five-seaters. Each comes with four-wheel drive (AWD) and seven-seat options for an additional price of about $3000. No more seven seats, 2WD.

The top-of-the-line Ti and Ti-L models are all AWD by default, but only come with five seats. Confused?

powertrain

Only one tool available at launch: one 2.5 liters of naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline manufacturing 135kW power and 6000 rpm and 244Nm at 3600 rpm.

These outputs are up 9kW and 18Nm over the old model, and towing capacity increases from 500kg to 2000kg under braking.

New ‘multi-mode’ on-demand AWD option features selectable Eco, Standard and Sport modes plus five different traction modes and algorithms to aid powertrain and control Stability to asphalt, dirt, ice and snow. There is also a hill descent control function.

Nissan claims mid-use entry-level ST 7.4-7.8L per 100km (2WD-4WD), while the higher-end Ti and Ti-L variants consume 7.8L/100km on the mixed cycle.

Fuel tank is 55L.

For those who want more power from their X-Trail while consuming less fuel, the upcoming e-Power hybrid claims to use 6.1L/100km.

Dimensions and chassis

Trunk space in the five-seat X-Trail is maximized at 585 liters, while the seven-seat configuration drops to 465 liters. There is also a smart ‘Split and Hide’ storage system to divide the luggage area.

Underneath the completely redesigned bodywork, the X-Trail uses the same Renault-Nissan Alliance CMF-C platform as the new Mitsubishi Outlander, which hit the market last year.

Independent suspension at each end, with stabilizer bars. Power steering is electric.

The all-new model, which also shares the same technical platform with the larger Qashqai, is slightly shorter than before, but wider (+20 mm), taller (+15 mm) and offers plenty of room to move around. more rear legs, with the tailgate opening wider for easier rear access and egress.

The wheelbase remains unchanged at 2705mm.

Service and Warranty

X-Trail is covered as standard by Nissan 5 year unlimited km . warranty with five years of roadside assistance included. The warranty is also transferable to another owner if you decide to sell.

Warranty for both 2WD/4WD versions 10,000km or 12 months whichever comes first. 4WD models incur a slight premium ($28 and $39 respectively) during the third and sixth servicing.

It is worth noting that the Mitsubishi Outlander has the same engine that provides a range of more than 15,000 km.

Safety

New X-Trail scores Five-star safety rating ANCAP based on crash testing of its 2021 Nissan Qashqai sister model with which it shares a platform. The review covers all variants including petrol and upcoming hybrid models.

The X-Trail scored 91% for adult passenger protection, 90% for child passenger protection, 74% for vulnerable road users, and 97% for safety assistance.
