Nissan stops developing nearly all gasoline engines during EV transition

If reports are accurate, Nissan would be the first Japanese automaker to make such a move. Nissan is also a stakeholder in Mitsubishi Motors, the market leader in the PHEV segment with Outlander.
Nissan’s main rival, Toyotadidn’t make such a commitment, preferring to look at alternatives like hydrogen fuel cells or burning hydrogen engine. However, Toyota recently announced that it plans to offer 30 new electric vehicles by 2030 and have all Lexus the lineup is okay only electricity in 2035.
