Microsoft introduced Windows 11 Build 22621.457 (KB5016695) to Insiders in the Release Preview Channel.
This build is for Insiders on Windows 11, version 22H2, which is Introducing the official release on September 20 – one week after that month’s Patch Tuesday (which falls on the second Tuesday of each month). The preview channel is the most stable preview channel after the Development Channel and the Beta Channel.
The update contains the same new features that Microsoft has implemented in recent Windows 11 and Windows 10 previewssuch as Defender for Endpoint’s advanced ransomware protections, and currently compresses a file regardless of its size for files that have Server Message Block (SMB) compression enabled.
Users can also view more usage history information from the Settings page. The resources mentioned include the camera, microphone, phone calls, messaging, contacts, screenshots and apps, and the music library. Users can access this feature through Settings > Privacy & Security.
Microsoft lists a number of bugs that have been resolved in this update, including tablet mode issues, problems in Task View preview, copying files from a network drive doesn’t work, leaks token from Local Security Authority Server Service (LSASS), excessive CPU usage, Edge in IE Mode not working, App-V memory leak, URL with more than 2,084 characters error, Windows Hello for Business problems, etc

The Windows 11 22H2 release is not expected to be a major update, but it does contain a number of new features, including Live subtitles and Voice Access accessibility features, Suggested ActionsRedesigned Task Manager, Tabbed File Explorer, OneDrive integration with File Explorerand more.
Following the mainstream release of Windows 11 22H2, but before the next feature update, Microsoft is expected to release a ‘Moments’ update. Like ZDNET’s Mary Jo Foley recent explanation, ‘Moments’ is Microsoft’s term for introducing new features outside of major operating system updates. It is not yet clear whether the Moments release will enable the new countdown timer to support.
