Just one more day until Samsung holds its Unpacked live event on Wednesday, February 1st, in San Francisco, California. This is the first in-person event hosted by Samsung since before the pandemic forced companies to go all-in on virtual events.

During the event, Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S23 lineup which includes a trio of new Galaxy Book smartphones and laptops.

The event will take place at The Masonic Auditorium, attended by members of the press. Samsung also plans to live stream the event on its website and YouTube. The fun starts at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. Learn more about watching the live stream here.

Before the official event kicks off, let’s take a look at what we expect Samsung to announce during its first Unpacked event of 2023. Oh, and in true Samsung style, there’s been a promotion. get you up to $100 in credit.

What to expect from Unpacked

Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy S23 series of smartphones during the Unpacked event. If the company follows through with its established naming scheme, which we fully expect, it means we should see the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Those names translate to phones of the right size, price, and specs with a better, better, and best approach.

As you can see in the invitation image above, there are three consecutive focus circles. That arrangement looks a lot like the camera arrangement on Samsung phones, with all the lenses lined up vertically on the back of the phone’s case.

in one recent blog post, TM Roh, President and Chief Business Officer of Samsung MX suggests that “the upcoming Galaxy is all about cameras, performance, and sustainability.” We’ll be watching this event to find out exactly how the company plans to upgrade its latest smartphone.

Coincidentally, Samsung just revealed 200-megapixel image sensor, it’s crazy to think if the S23 series ends with one. The new sensor allows the camera to capture more detail (and resolution) without having to be physically larger, keeping the back of your phone free from that obnoxious camera bump.

Samsung usually has one or two other devices to announce alongside new phones, and for now it looks like Samsung will announce an updated Galaxy Book laptop. The Galaxy Book Ultra is one such updated laptop rumored to launch as it will be the first time Samsung has used the Ultra moniker for one of its Windows laptops. Samsung has confirmed it will use the new OLED screen technology in the new (presumably Ultra) Galaxy Book that we will see launch next week.

Samsung’s smartwatch line isn’t overdue for a refresh, but that hasn’t stopped the company from releasing it new model in the past.
