New Ford Mustang GT supercar will be on display at Bathurst 1000

Ford Australia is gearing up to do what it claims will be its first direct reveal Seventh generation Mustang in racing form anywhere in the world.

Ford Australia says the new Mustang GT-based supercar will debut at the 2022 Bathurst 1000 on October 6, at 12:30pm, Ford Australia said today.

Match this first Supercar Mustang ‘Gen3’ will be driven by Australian motorsport legend Dick Johnson during the first laps around Mount Panorama. Mr Johnson is the first driver of the upcoming ‘Gen2’ Mustang Supercars at the Adelaide 500 in 2019.

Dick Johnson Racing is the same Ford team that has been designing, developing and building the new Mustang supercar with Ford Performance for the past two years.

The three-time Bathurst 1000 winner said he was honored to be the first to drive a prototype Mustang Supercar ‘Gen3’.

“My team and I have been racing Fords for over forty years, and we are very proud to represent and ambassador for the Blue Oval,” he said.

“We’ve worked incredibly hard to make this car the best it can be over the past few years, and being the first in the world to drive it after all that work is amazing.

“Any opportunity to drive around Mount Panorama is unbelievable, but to do so on Ford’s latest race car is an opportunity that I simply cannot pass up.”

Is a part of seventh generation model revealed Last month, Ford introduced a number of race-specific Mustangs that will compete globally in a variety of race series.

In addition to the Supercars version, Ford also showed off similar versions of the GT3, GT4, NASCAR and NHRA Factory X racing cars.

Blue Oval says it’s returning to the factory-assisted GT3 track with the new Mustang GT3 IMSA racer that will debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 2024. It will be available for purchase by customers.

The new Mustang GT4 will debut during the 2023 season and will be available for global GT4 classes in IMSA, SRO and FIA GT. It will also be available for purchase by customers.

Ford also said the newly designed models will debut in the NASCAR Cup series and the NHRA Factory X race in the “coming years”.

As for the regular seventh-generation Mustang coupe and convertible, it will launch in Australia by the end of 2023. Pricing and local specifications have yet to be announced.

It is powered by new fourth-generation versions of the familiar turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine and the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter Coyote V8.

A 10-speed automatic is still available with both engines, but the six-speed manual is currently exclusive to the V8.

Ford Australia has also confirmed that it will offer a Dark Horse Orientation Tracking as a special edition.

It will be powered by a “specially modified 5.0-liter V8” and feature a Torsen limited-slip differential, larger rear swing compartment, stronger strut tower brace, and front dampers. new, Brembo brakes, unique bonnet graphics, front splitter and … light wheel offers.
