“Negotiations are beginning” for Eubank Jr-Brook, says Adam Smith

Sky’s head of boxing Adam Smith said that Kell Brook and Chris Eubank Jr had to compromise if they were to fight each other.

After Kell Brook’s strong win in February, Chris Eubank Jr was quick to talk about a possible showdown while working for Sky Sports into the evening. The natural average, however, insists he won’t drop to Brook’s recommended catch of 155lbs for a single bout.

In a recent interview, Eubank hinted he would drop to 158lbs but no less. The 32-year-old has repeatedly mentioned Brook’s weight jump in the past against Gennadiy Golovkin in middleweight in 2016 and there is no reason why he can’t come back again.

“Kell has clearly turned the years back [against Khan]. He feels like he has more in the tank, some big fights out there for him,” Smith told Boxing Social’s Ryan Elliott.

“I think the fight with Chris Eubank Jr is a big one but obviously it’s all about the weight and they have to agree on that.

“It’s not fair if Kell has to go up and get nothing in return. It was an uphill battle. They must meet somewhere. I know negotiations are starting.”
