Hamzah Sheeraz wins prestigious boxing award

Hamzah Sheeraz has been named the Young Boxer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Club 2021.

The undefeated 22-year-old follows in the footsteps of the likes of Nigel Benn, Joe Calzaghe, Ricky Hatton, Amir Khan, George Groves and many more, who have also won prestigious awards.

After making his professional debut in September 2017, Sheeraz’s size and power has proven a handful of his opponents to all 15 opponents so far. After running initially at 154lbs, he recently decided to move to 160lbs where his promoter Frank Warren is confident his men can make it to the top of the middleweight class.

After thanking his family, Frank Warren, coach Ricky Funez, and others Sheeraz described how he felt when he won the award.

“I feel honored and humbled to have been selected by the Boxing Writers Club as their Young Boxer of the Year,” Sheeraz said.

“While all the titles are great, chosen by people with deep knowledge and history of the sport, as well as those who have seen and selected so many of the greats in the world. The early stages of his career over the past 69 years make it all the more special.

“I hope my future career will make the Boxing Writers Club proud and, God willing, I continue to equalize the achievements of these prestigious award winners. Alhumdullilah. ”
