Nauticam revealed video camera case for ARRI ALEXA 35. The cinema camera features a 4.6K ALEV 4 CMOS sensor and offers an impressive 17 stops of dynamic range. The ALEXA 35 can shoot both Apple ProRES and ARRIRAW at up to 4.6K/120p resolution.
Like Nauticam’s cases for the ALEXA Mini and Mini LF, the new case features a tray system for the camera assembly that slides into place; large buttons to control focus, iris and zoom; and optionally control the lens via the motor. The outer case is compatible with a variety of batteries, while a tough surface power source is also an option. For monitoring, the Atomos Ninja V or SmallHD 503 Ultrabright can be mounted in the Nauticam’s housing and connected via the SDI baffle. Nauticam vacuum and leak detection systems are included.
The case features a 250mm optical coated glass dome and a 100mm case extension (which allows the use of three motors to drive zoom lenses or longer primes) for $38,929. ARRI ALEXA 35 . CAMERA
Based on the already impressive range of cinema cameras offered by ARRI, the ALEXA 35 is perfectly suited to underwater production by offering videographers the compact and full-featured compactness of ARRI’s line of cameras. surname. It has the same rugged compact design as the ALEXA Mini, but it adds more premium features that resemble the larger ALEXA cameras. The ALEXA 35 is capable of recording both ARRIRAW and Apple ProRES to a 2TB Codex drive at up to 4.6K resolution and up to 120p frame rates.
To take full advantage of the all-new sensor, ARRI has also developed the all-new REVEAL Color Science. Designed with feedback from both colorists and videographers, REVEAL Color Science produces improved color, contrast, sensitivity, and dynamic range.
In addition to ARRI’s newer LPL (LBUS) mount, designed to cover ARRI’s entire range of sensor sizes with optimized full sensor coverage, the ALEXA 35 also features a PL to LPL, EF Mount and PL Mount.

Easy camera preparation
Designed with both the owner/operator and rental market in mind, the Nauticam system is easy to set up. Armed with only a coin and an allen wrench, the entire lens support and control system is built on the camera base plate outside the case. This means that the truss can be set up on a table where there is good lighting and plenty of work space. Once the camera is assembled on its tray, the entire system slides into the case and locks securely in place.
Lens control system
Similar to the ALEXA Mini and Mini LF cases, the ALEXA 35 case features an adjustable gear tower to control Focus, Iris, and Zoom all from the crowns on the outside of the case. This “diver control” setup perfectly meets the needs of a single operator.
For production-oriented shoots that require remote control and operation, the newly designed Nauticam ALEXA 35 case features two 15mm upper bars that allow the use of force and force mini-motors in conjunction with the Grip. ARRI Hi-5 hand. Unlike previous generation cases, the motors will now drive the lens on their own instead of via an adjustable gear tower. With the standard housing, two motors can be fitted for short primes. When added to the included 100mm Housing Extension you can attach 3 motors to the 15mm rods allowing the use of zoom lenses or longer primes.
The case is also equipped with a 3/4-inch Hydroflex-style baffle that allows power, remote control, and remote display from other Hydroflex rental systems on the Alexa Mini.
A wide variety of lenses are supported, from the very small Zeiss Standard Speed, to very large cinema-style zoom lenses. Our port system was tested with the Arri UWZ 9.5-18, the most complex wide-angle lens ever produced, with excellent results.

Optical coated glass archway
Our exclusive 250mm optical coated glass dome is provided for every system and we believe it is the best optical port available for cinema lenses. The dome diameter of 250mm — 10 inches — is the key to good wide-angle picture performance with many underwater cinema lenses. Smaller domes can work well with close-focus SLR lenses, but many cinema lenses have a longer minimum focusing distance in the .35 – .40m (14–16 ″) range. Using the Arri Master Prime T1.4/14mm, with the .4m MFD as an example, the 250mm dome provides clearly superior results, with much less angular softness than the smaller domes. The glass dome is strong, extremely scratch resistant. Broadband anti-reflective coating eliminates flare, reflections, and ghosting from the optical port. A sturdy machined aluminum shade protects the dome and provides additional fire resistance.
Battery configuration
The case comes with a V-Mount battery pack and a LEMO connector for the ALEXA 35 camera. Ample space is available for a wide range of battery pack sizes used in the case, providing long operating life. Tough surface strength is also an option for all-day shooting.
Cut down on weight
The included shear weights can be moved independently along the length of the hosuing skateboard, and additional mounting points are fitted on the shell itself to cut the shell to the exact needs of the shooter.
Support external monitor
The SmallHD 503 Ultrabright or Atomos Ninja V monitor can be mounted in a Nauticam NA-503-S or Nauticam Atomos Ninja VS case and connected via an SDI baffle and cable allowing for more flexibility when positioning the monitor on a Nauticam enclosure Alexa 35.

Vacuum test and leak detection system
The Nauticam ALEXA 35 case features Nauticam’s field-tested Vacuum Test and Leak Detection System, providing continuous updates on the case’s watertightness and safety for diving. By gently vacuuming the inside of the shell with a compact and reliable hand pump, the system can ensure watertightness before entering the water as well as during the dive. The simple, easily visible color-coded LED lighting system on the rear of the housing lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing its vacuum. Leak detection is integrated in the same circuit, so if there is water ingress, an audible and visual indication will appear. The Nauticam system is temperature compensated, eliminating false alarms caused by changes in the outside temperature or because the camera heats up during an action-packed dive.
