A Look at the New Sony FE 300mm f/2.8 GM OSS Lens

Though most mirrorless systems have been out for a few years now, 300mm f/2.8 lenses have been mostly missing save for Canon’s 100-300mm f/2.8. You can now add one more option to the stable with Sony’s newly announced FE 300mm f/2.8 GM OSS. This excellent first look video takes a look at the new lens and the sort of performance and image quality on tap.

Coming to you from Park Cameras, this great first look video takes a look at the new Sony FE 300mm f/2.8 GM OSS lens. 300mm f/2.8 lenses were long popular in the DSLR days, useful for bird, wildlife, and sports photography, and a range of professionals have been eagerly awaiting updated versions for mirrorless mounts. Unsurprisingly, Sony’s new version is a member of the company’s G Master series, meaning you can expect an advanced lightweight design and rugged construction, fast and accurate autofocus, great stabilization, and, of course, excellent image quality. And for the most part, it seems like the lens delivers on all those expectations. It also comes with some nice quality-of-life features, including a customizable function ring and buttons and a drop-in filter slot. Altogether, it looks like an extremely capable lens. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
