My go-to microphone for podcasts and streaming for the past decade

Original green yeti.

My old Blue Yeti still serves me when (when it is summoned).

About a decade ago, while embarking on a podcast project, I found the perfect mic to fit my needs — Blue snowman. What makes this mic so special that so many podcasters have flocked to use it for years? If you read any of the “best podcasting mics” lists, you’re sure to come across the Blue Yeti. The reason for this is threefold: Incredible sound, unique look and cost.

For a price of around $120 at the time of writing, the Blue Yeti is a steal. Here’s why.

Blue Yeti USB Microphone

You find the sound more impressive than the Blue Yeti at this price point.

I have a feeling that part of the reason for this significant price drop is that Logitech (the company that bought Blue previously), is getting rid of the Blue brand and will sell the mic under the Logitech G gaming brand. Therefore, I strongly recommend you get this mic right away. For the price (and considering you’re using the Blackout version of the microphone), you won’t find a better podcasting microphone. Stage.

I’ve used Blue Yeti on both Linux and macOS and it never worked as expected. It’s almost a plug-and-play job with no driver installation required. I used the microphone with Audacity and it had no problems with the microphone.

The beauty of Blue Yeti

At first, you may be attracted by the look of Blue snowman. It has a pretty classic, sci-fi look, and (I have to admit) it looks great. In the end, the real beauty of the Blue Yeti is the sound. You won’t find a better mic for the price. Stage. And while some people may prefer headset-type microphones (especially for gaming), if you’re recording podcasts, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a microphone that surpasses the sound the Blue Yeti produces.

It is really good. In fact, whenever someone asks me what kind of mic they should buy for their podcast, the Blue Yeti is always my first recommendation. That’s true when it’s my only mic and still is, even with my favorite (significantly more expensive) CAD E100 mic.

No matter how you say it (full voice or ASMR), the Blue Yeti is the must-have mic for your podcasting needs. Buy now before it’s too late.
