Mr. Ollie, Cajun Brother Looking for Opportunity in Gulfstream

Peter Vegso’s Mr. Ollie , after successfully closing the nine-month gap between races and barn changes, reaches out to compete in a $75,000 Sunshine Classic slick facelift on Jan. Gulfstream Park.

The 1/8-mile Classic 1 serves as the lead in 11 races alongside the $75,000 Sunshine Sprint featuring six trailers, each for kids ages 4 and up, bred from Florida. Both races offer a $25,000 Florida Sire Stakes bonus to qualified athletes.

Sir Ollie, a 4-year-old son of Quality Sugar , made the first three starts for Hall of Fame coach Bill Mott before winning the first race for coach Saffie Joseph Jr. in an optional allowance claim race on December 8.

“He’s about to be fired and I don’t think he’s 100% fit, but we need to get him started,” said Joseph, Championship Meet’s top coach. Championship Meet’s top coach said. “I think he ran reliably. I think the extra distance won’t get in his way, so we’ll give him a chance here.”

“The horse is brilliant. It’s beautiful. It took me a while to find it, but I think we’re on top of it,” Hess said.

Cajun Brother took his fourth and first win in bets in last year’s Sprint, where he beat the multi-millionaire to ever win in Group 1.
