Mother 3 makers share thoughts on localization, and why it didn’t happen
One of the most requested GBA localizations was the hit RPG of 2006 Mother 3. In February, we already know how much this game’s producer Shinichi Kameoka will be “like to see” this particular item is released worldwideSo why hasn’t it happened yet?
In the latest episode of Kit & Krysta Podcast on YouTube, Kameoka was asked during a fan Q&A segment why he thinks Mother 3 has yet to be released outside of Japan. Here is the full text of the exchange:
“Question Kameoka (I’m sure a lot of people will ask) – any ideas why Mother 3 isn’t releasing outside of Japan? And what do you think the chances are for it to release? I really want to support it and recommend it to friends”
Shinichi Kameoka: “Personally, I think Mother 3’s biggest selling point is Shigesatao Itoi’s unique writing style; translating the charm and nuance of his writing into other languages is quite a challenge and perhaps quite a challenge. that’s why it took so long to review Mother 3’s international releases.”
With no official local release, fans in the West have taken matters into their own hands with a fan-made translation. Former President of Nintendo of America Reggie has also previously joked about Mother 3’s return.
