The fourth round of the 2022 ASBK Michelin Supersport Championship in 2022 was a heartbreaking story, followed by a relegation for championship leader John Lytras.
While Ty Lynch gives Team 727Moto something to smile about, after a somewhat tumultuous season so far for the Queensland-based team, with a group stage win significantly increased their chances of winning. his title.
Ty Lynch scored the winning goal against runner John Lytras while Jake Farnsworth and Tom Bramich chased the duo during the opening lap of race one at Morgan Park on Sunday morning.
Then Lytras took the lead in turn one as they started round two, he immediately began to separate from Lynch. That pair left the rest of the yard behind them, with Farnsworth and Bramich trailing them by more than two seconds after just a single lap of the 14-lap race.
Lytras then encounters some mechanical grenades!
His YZF-R6 was about to come to a stop, the youngster recycled the igniter, turned it off and back on again with a trick, before finally rejoining the race at the bottom of the field, trailing the race leader. new, Ty almost 20 seconds. Lynch, who then secured a clear and unchallenged victory over Bramich and Farnsworth.
It’s been a tumultuous season for the 727Moto team so far, so a win for Lynch will help boost the team as a whole, they’ve had very few memories this year so it’s nice to see them finally smiling. .
Heartbreaking of course for Lytras, who limped home last, three laps downhill, after having to repeatedly pull over and ignite to reset the throttle each wire. Lytras had the pace to win and prolong his favorable championship, he was the only driver to rush into the 1m15, but instead he saw his lead close to like completely disappeared. His buffer on Lynch down to a single point… But the eight points he has won by sticking to it to finish, despite having to constantly restart his bike, could be crucial to his championship hopes.
Jake Farnsworth and Tom Bramich fought hard in their final steps on stage. The Bramich was a bit faster but struggled all weekend with arm pump issues, however, the Victoria eventually trailed Farnsworth to take second place.

John Lytras seemed to have the pace to pull off the field in the opening Supersport game only to fire a technical grenade that robs him of that potential. He had to repeatedly disconnect and restart his machine to reset the throttle each wire, he ended up completing three laps but still taking eight points from his effort.
Ty Lynch was the winner of that opening race by almost ten seconds ahead of Tom Bramich. Jake Farnsworth battled Bramich in the first half of the race before losing his place and finishing third in 4.8 seconds.
Ty Lynch and John Lytras nearly hit the crossbar towards turn one in the second stanza, but the 727Moto man had the advantage on turn one to lead Lytras. Tom Bramich third, Rhys Belling fourth, Luca Durning fifth.
With problems related to electronics, Lytras set out to try to improve Lynch. He did exactly that early in the second round to lead the race.
Jake Farnsworth was later uninjured, but apparently gutted. Mitch Kuhne had previously withdrawn from the race.
The lead pair were four seconds ahead of third-placed Bramich by just a few laps in the race. Lytras and Lynch ran 1m15s, while the rest of the field ran 17s or slower.
Lynch was determined not to let Lytras get away. Both are on the edge running through bumps. Lytras managed to overtake Lynch a few tenths after he passed, but the 727Moto racer then responded with a new fastest lap to pull that distance back a few bike lengths.
As they started the second half of the race, it looked like Lytras finally managed to break Lynch after lowering his previous fastest lap with a new marker, and then backtracking a few 1m15s. ,4s in a row, that’s a pace Lynch can’t compete with.
Lytras then dropped to 1m15.3s and with five laps to run is now five seconds ahead of Lynch. That pairing was 16 seconds ahead of third-placed Tom Bramich.
Four seconds after Bramich, there’s an intense four-way battle for fourth place underway between Tom Drane, Scott Nicholson, Rhys Belling and Lucas Durning.
By the final game, Lytras had 5 seconds ahead of Lynch, who in turn had 18 seconds of buffer ahead of Bramich. And that’s how they get it done.
The payoff is clear for Lytras, helping to push his championship lead back to six points.
The only battle to win was a fight for fourth place which was eventually won by Tom Drane over Scott Nicholson.
Ty Lynch was the round winner against Tom Bramich and John Lytras.
Q; The weekend was full of good points, with a win and a second goal, but if it weren’t for a bit of bad luck for John Lytras, the situation might have been different.
Ty Lynch: “The main goal was to finish every race, and Lytras still finished the first race but yes it was a big hit for him, but it’s been a long season.”
Q; And regarding race two.
Ty Lynch: “That’s one of our strengths this year, you know, it’s half your race, so I had a good jump and then I just tried to run with Lytras. throughout the race. We went about eight laps and I was out of tires and out of air, that’s all.”
Q; Is Lytras usually a little faster at a minute, and you have to find something?
Ty Lynch: “History repeats itself. He’s been super fast at Wakefield, I’m pretty much trying, but we’re just trying to fix it, and find safe places to take time out of each circuit.
“Phillip Island and Bend are strong points for me, and we’ve done a lot of testing at Bend over the last four or five months so it will be interesting to see how Lytras performs there. But he really made it up in this part of the season, he struggled a bit at the start so he really came out strong. “
